AIM – To find the compressive strength of light weight bricks
Tools & equipment : 6 cube moulds,tamping rod trowel
Materials: fresh concrete , waste oil
Procedure:-
1) take 6 cube moulds
2) apply waste oil inside the moulds
3) take the concrete samples randomly
4) fill the concrete in the mould into three layer’s
5) fill the first part of the concrete in the mould and compact with the taping rod by giving 35 strokes
6) similarly fill the second and third layers
7) level the top surface of the mould with the trowel
8) cover the top surface of the mould with the wetted cloth up to 24 hrs
9) after 24 hours place the cubes in the water tank.
10)on the top surface of the specimen write date of casting of the cube.
11) finally test the compressive strength of the specimen after 7 days and 28 days.
Compressive strength testing machine
1) place the specimen in the testing machine
2) apply the load
3) identify the cracks on the specimen
4) note the load when the cracks appears
compressive strength = ultimate load / area of cross section
ex : 1 div= 1 tone = 1000 kg

The strength of concrete increases with age. Table shows the strength of concrete at different ages in comparison with the strength at 28 days after casting.Age | Strength per cent |
